Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about setting up Guardian Drive and keeping
family journeys safe.
How do parent and teen devices securely connect?
Guardian Drive uses an encrypted OTP pairing system. The parent app generates a one-time link that expires after 10 minutes, ensuring only verified devices can pair. All communication between parent and teen devices is end-to-end encrypted.
Can my child still use navigation and play music?
Yes. Whitelisted apps such as Google Maps, Waze, Spotify, and Apple Music remain fully accessible at all times. App Shielding only restricts non-whitelisted social or distraction apps when the vehicle exceeds 15 MPH.
Will Guardian Drive track my teen's search history or texts?
No. Guardian Drive does not monitor browser history, text messages, or personal communications. It only tracks GPS location, vehicle speed, and app usage status to ensure safe driving behavior.
Will the continuous GPS draining affect battery lifespan?
Guardian Drive uses a low-power telemetry mode that consumes less than 2% battery per hour during active monitoring. The algorithm intelligently reduces polling frequency when the device is stationary, preserving battery health over time.
What happens if my teen deletes the app or disables GPS?
You will receive an immediate SMS and push notification if the app is removed or location access is revoked. The Admin Pin lock prevents the app from being uninstalled without the parent-defined PIN. Watchdog tamper detection activates within seconds of any unauthorized change.
What if my teen is a passenger in a bus or in a friend's car?
You can set a Passenger Mode geofence or temporarily pause App Shielding from the parent dashboard for a defined time window. Speed-based triggers only apply when your teen is the registered driver of a paired vehicle.
